The 18th IYAS La Salle National Writers’ Workshop will be held on April 22 – 28, 2018 at the Balay Kalinungan, University of St. La Salle, Bacolod City. IYAS is organized by the University of St. La Salle and supported by De La Salle University Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center, the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities (ICSC) and the National Commission for Culture & the Arts. The workshop director is Marjorie Evasco. The panel is composed of Ronald Baytan, Susan S. Lara, Grace Monte de Ramos, John Iremil Teodoro, and Em Mendez.
The Libulan Queer Collective, a writers bloc of queer poets, essayists, fictionists, and playwrights from the southern Philippines, in cooperation with Cratos Publishing House Company, Inc. and the Cebu Normal University-Department of English Studies and Other Languages (ESOL), proudly presents SOUTHERN AUTHORS LIVE: QUEER POETRY, FICTION, ESSAY, AND DRAMA IN CEBUANO and the launching of LIBULAN: BINISAYANG ANTOLOHIYA SA KATITIKANG QUEER, the country’s first anthology of writings from lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender, and straight allies this 7 March 2018, 8 AM to 5 PM, at the Samuel McClintock Hall, Cebu Normal University.
The event will feature academic lectures on queer literature, poetry and prose readings from the contributors, and other discussions. It is open to all CNU students, faculty members, staff, and alumni.

The Bulawan Literary Journal of Northern Mindanao is now open for contributions to its fourth regular issue themed ‘Mental Disorders’. Bulawan’s editors are looking for poems, short stories, flash fiction/nonfiction, creative nonfiction, one-act plays, screenplays, full-length play excerpts, novel chapters, critical essays, book reviews, and visual artworks that discuss psychiatric/psychological disorders—anxiety disorders, eating disorders, mood disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, personality disorders, psychotic disorders, and substance use disorders.
